This page explains the basic information practices for Limelight Events. We keep the service focused on event discovery and only use limited data needed to operate and improve the service.

Editorial policy

Limelight aims to provide a broad and useful selection of events, but does not attempt to provide an exhaustive listing of every event.

Limelight may choose not to list or promote an act or event where there is credible, well-documented evidence of:

  • advocacy or glorification of terrorism or political violence;
  • incitement of hatred or violence against ethnic, religious or other protected groups;
  • repeated dehumanizing or discriminatory rhetoric directed at such groups; or
  • repeated use of performances or public prominence for highly inflammatory political activism that, in Limelight's editorial judgment, materially contributes to hostility or polarization between ethnic, religious or national groups.

Political opinions, criticism of governments, support for political causes and controversial political activism are not, by themselves, grounds for exclusion.

Decisions should be based on documented conduct rather than political affiliation or viewpoint. The same standards should be applied regardless of which political cause, nationality, religion or community is involved.

Relevant evidence may include the person's own statements or conduct, reliable reporting, legal proceedings, official restrictions, and decisions by venues, festivals or promoters. Allegations or cancellations alone are not sufficient; contrary evidence and subsequent clarifications should also be considered.
